Om projektet ur beslutsunderlaget för BECCs forskningsmedelsutlysning 2018-2020:
J. Stripple (Political Science, LU); Woodworlds – Stories of desire and grief in Swedish forests
This innovative project studies ‘stories’ about Swedish forests. ‘Stories’ is an approach that enables multiple views to be expressed and is suitable for interdisciplinary interpretation. It is argued that this approach can lead to the collaboration between scientists in interaction with stakeholders to generate understandings about conflicts and possibilities, desires and grief in relation to forest issues.
‘Stories’ is seen as a complement to (rational) decision making and argued to fill a gap in the consideration of emotional responses and engagement in governance. The project has a transformative ambition and a fresh, participatory approach to stakeholders as ‘story tellers’ with promising interactions between researchers with the necessary competence to carry the project to completion.
