Bartelson has received two awards

Jens Bartelson has received two awards by the International Studies Association. He is the recipient of the Distinguished Scholar Award and the ISA Theory Section Best Monograph Award. The last mentioned award has been given to Bartelson for his book ”War in International Thought”.

Motivation for the Distinguished scholar award
Jens Bartelson’s pioneering contribution to the field of Historical International Relations cannot be overstated. Time and again, he has led the charge in forcing the field of IR more broadly to think historically about key phenomena and concepts whose historical dimension and change it has largely taken for granted, be they sovereignty, the state, cosmopolitanism or war. His work has provided the reference point both through the depth of its historical analysis and the thoroughness of its methodological approach.

Motivation for the Best monograph award
Jens Bartelson is also the recipient of ISA Theory Section Best Monograph Award for his recent book War in International Thought (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2017).
