Annika Björkdahl on war time rape

Annika Björkdahl and Johanna Mannergren Selimovic have contributed the chapter ”Feminist Ethnographic Research: Excavating Narratives of Wartime Rape”, in the volume ”Ethnographic Peace Research”.

Annika Björkdahl
This chapter analyzes women's narratives of war time rape in order to generate knowledge about women’s experiences of transitions from war to peace. Bosnia Herzegovina during the war 1992-1995, a country that witnessed widespread sexual violence, is the context for our study. We discuss the ethics of such sensitive research and ways to collect narratives without re-traumatizing the survivors of war time rape.
