- Urban planning
- Municipal development planning
- Projects, pilots och experiments in public administration
Current research and teaching
My research interests concern municipal development planning and new forms of organization in public administration - above all the emergence of experiments, projects and pilots. I also work with issues related to local autonomy and how municipalities are affected by EU membership. I am thus broadly interested in issues concerning power, organization and governance within the framework of changing local policy.
I currently work in four research projects. Two of these are Nordic comparisons that deal with how new forms of organization affect regional and municipal development planning. Here the focus is on the presence of pilots, projects and various forms of "urban experiments" and test beds within the framework of living and / or traveling in the cities of the future. In these research projects look at pilot projects for car-free areas and houses in a number of Nordic municipalities - but I also follow innovation projects within the framework of smart mobility (with a focus on self-driving buses) in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
In addition to research on pilots and experiments, I work in a FORTE-funded research project which is related to development work in municipalities - but here the focus is instead on social issues. Here I have, among other things, worked with questions on organization and resistance in relation to social innovations in Swedish municipalities, and how new municipal markets arise around the buying / selling of innovations.
The fourth research project is a Swedish-Norwegian research project where I look at how Swedish municipalities (and municipal autonomy) have been affected by EU membership.
I teach courses on Swedish politics and administration, method and political theory in a broad sense.
I coordinate the department's research group (PAT) Public Administration Theory. I am also currently a board member of KEFU (Council for Municipal Economic Research and Education) and Urban Arena. Since 2015, I am also an affiliated researcher at K2 (National Center for Public Transport).
