The aim of my dissertation project is to describe and explain the evolution of parliamentarianism in Western and Central Europe in the long run. The project includes a new conceptualization of parliamentarianism, an original data collection effort concerning this institution, the use of Bayesian methods to estimate its evolution, and different qualitative and quantitative approaches to offer an explanation of the patterns.
I am interested in political history, political economy, changes in the labor market, the roots and logic of the welfare state, and voter preferences. Methodologically, I am interested in both quantitative and qualitative research strategies.
