Jana Wrange and Rikard Bengtsson have together with Douglas Brommesson (Linneaus University) published the article "Resilience through total defence: Towards a shared security culture in the Nordic–Baltic region?" in European Journal of International Security.

The article departs from an analysis of conceptualizations of total defence and resilience among the Nordic and Baltic countries in combination with a study of existing and prospective security and defense policy cooperation between the countries as a basis for analyzing the degree of shared security culture in the Nordic-Baltic region.

The study, which is based on extensive document analysis and 19 elite interviews covering all eight countries, shows a varying degree of shared security culture, with Sweden, Finland and Norway as a group with a deeper shared security culture than the others in the region. The results are of relevance i.a. for the issue of the prospect for Nordic-Baltic security and defence cooperation, regionally as well as within the EU and NATO.
