Författare

Summary, in English

Younger generations in South Korea are increasingly concerned about environmental issues, while youth climate activism is one of the fastest growing social movements globally, engaging formal and informal politics at multiple levels. Among others, Youth 4 Climate Action, a Korean youth climate movement group, has initiated climate change litigation and presented its actions at a side event of the 2021 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. This chapter aims to analyse the recent dynamics among younger generations in South Korea in relation to environmental issues. The study focuses on how Korean youth climate activists are connected within and beyond national borders. Their multi-level dynamics are analysed through the lens of social network building. This study sheds light on the developing networks of younger generations' environmental movements and on how national dynamics shape and are shaped by global ones. The recent phenomena in South Korea show that young generations are adopting environmentalism as part of their identity.
