Gender and International Relations
Kursen ges på engelska och läses tillsammans med utbytesstudenter.
The course takes its starting point in international relation theory. We study traditional themes of international relations like war, intervention, conflict, security and defense as expressions of gendered power, for example by relating organized violence to militarism and heterosexual masculinity and peacekeeping to protection discourses.
By introducing gender and feminist perspectives the course provides the analytical cornerstones to understand the complexity of intersecting identities and the potential for agency in the contemporary security landscape.
The course offers a deeper analysis of two broad themes. One is on violence and militarism and the other on peacekeeping protection practices and discourses.
