SASNET seminar series on anti-caste thinking as political theory: Ankit Kawade

What can we learn about caste from thinkers who never experienced a caste-based society? In this seminar, Ankit Kawade explores how major German political thinkers, including Hegel, Nietzsche, Marx, Weber, Arendt, and Heidegger, engaged with the concept of caste. 

The presentation examines how their reflections can contribute to contemporary discussions on social inequality and the nature of caste as a political and social phenomenon.

Ankit Kawade is a PhD student in the Department of Political Science at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. He works in the field of comparative political theory, with a particular interest in modern Indian, European, and American political thought. He is also a Graduate Associate at the Association for Global Political Thought, Harvard University.

The seminar will be held via Zoom. Participants joining from outside Sweden may note that the seminar starts at 18:30 IST and 09:00 EST.
