 wedish Defence University.War Beyond the Battlefield: Sites and Spatialiti
 es&nbsp\;The question of how societies prepare for war and how people make
  sense of that preparation in their everyday lives has long been a pertine
 nt one. In an era of intensifying global re-armament\, it has become impor
 tant to once again consider the role that lived experience\, identity\, an
 d sense-making play in animating militarism. Drawing on lessons from past 
 research and more recent insights into practices of war preparedness\, thi
 s talk aims to map out some of the key sites and spatialities through whic
 h preparing for war becomes routinised but also contested.&nbsp\;The Highe
 r Research Seminar is the Department’s main research seminar series. Res
 earchers from the Department\, alongside leading national and internationa
 l scholars\, present and discuss ongoing research and analysis on a wide r
 ange of timely and thought-provoking topics relevant to Political Science.
 The seminar is held on Wednesdays 13.15 to 14.30 in Eden 367\, unless othe
