About the author
Shailaja Paik is taft Distinguished Professor of history and affiliate in women, gender, and sexuality studies at the University of Cincinnati. The Vulgarity of Caste: Dalits, Sexuality, and Humanity (Stanford University Press, 2022) is her second book and focuses on the politics of caste, class, gender, sexuality, and popular culture in modern Maharashtra. During this seminar, Shailaja Paik will respond to questions from following discussants:
- Joel Lee, Associate Professor of Anthropology, Williams College.
- Rupa Viswanath, Professor of Indian Religions at the Centre for Modern Indian Studies at the University of Göttinge.
- Yashpal Jogdand, Assistant Professor of Psychology, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.
