  • Public administration, government and collaboration,  in theory and practice
  • Critical perspectives on public administration, management and government
  • Qualitative methodology, e.g. political and organisational ethnography

 

Current research

Josef's dissertation project is on collaboration in public administration, focusing on how collaboration projects in the welfare sector are governed in practice. Theoretically, the project highlights relations and organisation of public services, the role of politicians and civil servants, as well as power and politics in public administration. Empirically, local collaboration on children and youth at risk is examined through observations, interviews and document studies. The dissertation project is part of a larger project on collaboration in public administration, funded by The Swedish Research Council, and involving junior and senior researchers from Malmö and Lund universities.

Josef Chaib has a an interest in public administration and governing, in theory and practice, fuelled by his previous work with strategic planning and development in public administration and his Master in Political Science from Lund University. Josef is affiliated to Malmö University, where he is also situated.
