For supervisors

There are certain things that you, as a supervisor of doctoral students, should know.

Individual study plan

An individual study plan must be drawn up annually for each doctoral student. It is to include a timeframe for the doctoral student’s education, as well as a plan for supervision, departmental duties and financing.

Discussion on expectations

Apart from the individual study plan, we have produced material for a discussion between you and the doctoral student about your expectations.

Seminars and thesis defences

There are three formal milestones intended to help doctoral students in the various stages of their thesis work: manuscript review, “green light reading” and public defence. We have developed guidelines/a user guide of what you, the supervisor, should consider.
