Abstract: The Research Seminar as an Academic Common
The tradition of holding so-called higher research text seminars is much cherished in academia, especially in the humanities and social sciences. This presentation draws on the experiences of an EQ11 project, which focused on how to enhance the quality of the research text seminars for our PhD students and to see these arenas both as valuable sites for scientific and intellectual development and social environments for collegial support. What lessons could be learned? What is the status of the research seminar today? Could it be further developed in some way and if so, how?
MARIE CRONQVIST is an associate professor of journalism and media history at Lund University. Together with Alexander Maurits (CTR), she was the project leader of the EQ11 project entitled "The good seminar. Developing the Ph D research seminar as an intellectual and social arena" carried out in 2013–2016.
