Simon Davidsson has been awarded the Swedish Political Science Association's prize for best thesis by younger researchers presented at the association's annual meeting 2022. Davidsson is awarded the prize for the thesis Testing Paths to Strong Parties in Western Europe or the Efficient Secret Shared.

Davidsson's essay is a careful examination of explanations for the development of party strength in Western European states before World War II. Through an impressive empirical work, where a wide range of sources are used, Davidsson can show how the development of parliamentarism affected party organization and thus the effect of the extended right to vote, but also the character of the radical socialist parties.
