The book ”Democracy under Threat: A Crisis of Legitimacy?” focuses on comparative studies of democracies that have emerged from different types of authoritarian regimes (Poland, Turkey, South Africa, Chile, South Korea and Taiwan) using Sweden and Germany as control cases. My chapter explores possible lessons that democracy as an institution might learn from diplomacy to overcome the present crisis.

The chapter I have co-written with Leon Gordenker, a veteran of UN studies, examines the different ways the UN system disseminates information about the world organization, and how it seeks to manage knowledge about the world.
