Beyond the System Shift: Towards a New Community

Niklas Altermark and Magnus Dahlstedt are the editors of the new anthology "Bortom systemskiftet - Mot en ny gemenskap" where leading welfare researchers discuss Sweden's system shift and ways forward.

The welfare state that was created in Sweden in the 20th century has been transformed at a rapid pace for three decades. Hollowed-out social security systems, far-reaching market solutions in the core areas of welfare and the individualization of social problems have been some of the expressions of system change.

Criticism of development is often characterized by a nostalgic desire to defend the remnants of the 20th century's bygone welfare model. In this popular science anthology, some of Sweden's leading welfare researchers instead discuss how the trend can be reversed and what the ways forward can look like.
