Letter from the Head
Our strong research profile is reflected in our teaching. Many of our courses are developed in connection to research projects, providing students with the opportunity to study current research findings with lecturers who are themselves active researchers within their respective fields. Our educational environment has long been highly internationalised: many of our courses are offered in English, every term we welcome around 50 exchange students and we have several exchange agreements with universities in Europe, North America and Asia, allowing our students to pursue their studies abroad.
Studies at the Department of Political Science in Lund create the conditions for a successful professional career within both the public and private sectors. We train people for professional assignments which require qualified analysis and investigation, administration, leadership and information. We also offer opportunities for internships within public authorities and organisations both in Sweden and abroad. Political science graduates from Lund who have achieved leadership positions within politics, public authorities, foreign policy administration and business and industry are regularly invited to contribute to our courses and programmes, to inspire and share their experiences with current students.
The city of Lund also offers a rich assortment of activities and opportunities beyond academic studies. The Department of Political Science is located in the area called Paradis (Paradise), a stones throw from the main University building and the cathedral in central Lund. We have plenty of study places and the University Library and a number of other departments are to be found in our immediate vicinity. A classic campus environment in a classic university town.
Welcome to the Department of Political Science
