Organization, Leadership and Welfare management
The aim of the course is to analyse and critically assess research on leadership and management, with a special focus on the welfare sector. What does leadership imply, and what are the requirements for leaders working in public agencies, non-profit organizations, and private companies? The covers expectations on leaders, how leaders influence the outcome of the activities, leadership in organizations with strong professions, and the importance of gender in leadership. The course also covers developments and tendencies in the organisation of welfare services, and how leadership can be exercised in processes of change. With a critical perspective on the research on leadership and management, the course seeks to prepare the course participants for expectations that they might face in future managerial positions.
