Introduktion
In 2011 I was promoted to Professor and Excellent Teaching Practitioner. Having defended my PhD-thesis at Lund University in 1995, I was a Senior Lecturer at Södertörnshögskola, (University College) in Stockholm between 1997 and 2004. I have been teaching widely on all levels, coordinating courses within the fields of international politics, comparative politics and development studies. My research has focused on problems of democratization, the development of civil society in authoritarian and post-authoritarian states, and transnational activism. Empirically I started out with a strong interest in Southeast Asia in general and Indonesia in particular. During my time at Södertörn I was involved in several research projects focusing on the post-Soviet area. I am now focusing on Asia again, for instance in a comparative study of civil society engagement with the Asian Development Bank and ASEAN. This research is carried out within the research program “Democracy Beyond the Nation-State? Transnational Actors and Global Governance” - Transdemoshttp://www.transdemos.se/ where I am a member of the steering committee.
