Introduktion
I started my doctoral studies at Lund University in September 2011. My main research interests are strategic voting, contemporary European politics and statistical methods. I also work with experimental methods. Summer 2012 I attended the ICPSR summer school in advanced quantitative methods at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, US. I have a master’s degree in political science from University of Gothenburg (2011) and have studied political science at University of Stirling, Scotland. Fredén, A. 2012. Forskning
In my doctoral thesis I investigate strategic voting in proportional representation systems. Strategic voting is to vote for another party than one's most preferred one with the intention to affect government outcome. In particular, I look at threshold insurance voting: voting for small parties at risk of falling below an electoral threshold. Using different methods such as survey data analysis and experiments, I test the association between level of threshold, clarity of government alternatives and strategic voting.
